To manage the overall IT setup for all offices in East Africa, ensuring the highest quality of standards and effective functioning of IT at Twaweza. To provide efficient user-friendly IT support to Twaweza/Uwezo offices in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain the IT infrastructure across the offices to work effectively;
- Support the internal and external network infrastructure, server administration, and provide technical support;
- Manage server infrastructure, ensure regular update, upgrade, capacity planning, security, and audit;
- Oversee and maintain shared resources and assign rights to users for all IT-related equipment;
- Manage the internal LAN, IP address allocation, and network equipment;
- Identify, propose and install all IT hardware, software and services and ensure they are maintained in accordance with best practices; provide specialized support as appropriate (accounting, statistics, etc);
- Manage security (virus protection, firewalls, etc) and backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure recovery of both data and services;
- Maintain hardware and software inventory created with clear maintenance and replacement cycle;
- Inventory and maintenance of internal/external servers, and implementation of active monitoring. (e.g office, internet, fileserver, mail server, web server);
- Technically oversee and support the customization of an ERP system that suits Twaweza’s needs;
- Provide user-friendly trouble-shooting support to staff/users; orient new users on IT policies and procedures;
- Help develop IT related policies and procedures; support and monitor organizational wide adherence;
- Support/train staff/users to make optimal use of office software
- Provide technical support to Twaweza staff members on IT systems and software;
- Be up to date on IT trends, issues, and developments that are of relevance to the organization.
General Responsibilities
- Successfully implement above responsibilities and assigned activities (and associated budgets) in work plans, consistent with Twaweza interests and policies;
- Contribute effectively to planning, monitoring, reporting and information dissemination of Twaweza’s work;
- Comply with and foster adherence to the established Twaweza approach, policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures;
- Participate actively in organization-wide learning and other joint activities;
- Undertake any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor or the Head of Twaweza.
Core Qualifications
- A diploma, preferably degree, in IT-related subjects;
- Technical proficiency in managing the above;
- At least three years’ experience related to your responsibilities;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili;
- Can take initiative, get things done, really well, and fast.
- Demystify IT for non-IT proficient users; provide helpful service that boosts efficient use and confidence.
