As an applied statistician, isn’t it time your expertise truly made a difference? We’re looking for a Statistics Manager to work alongside our scientists in developing the formulation and devices for a wide range of medicines - in particular, respiratory medicines that tackle diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
We are a science-led global healthcare company that enables people across the world to do more, feel better and live longer. We are also a business with a clear vision to bring advanced statistical thinking into decision-making and knowledge-gathering within research and development.
The Quality by Design initiative from the Food and Drug Administration is transforming the way medicines are developed, and manufactured, and has given greater opportunity for the statistician to contribute to the regulatory documentation required to register our medicines. We are looking for far greater modelling of our processes and to use new approaches to explain how we will control the manufacture of our new medicines.
Taking on this role within our expanding Statistical Sciences Europe department, you’ll focus on providing statistical input to the non-clinical area of drug development. This will entail making a vital contribution to the late stage of projects, and leading statistical colleagues involved in the project. You could find yourself accountable for the statistical aspects of the chemistry, manufacturing and control requirements of a new medicine.
We’re looking for a postgraduate qualification in statistics or a good first degree with relevant statistical experience. You’ll have an excellent track record as a statistical consultant that shows the ability to apply statistical knowledge intelligently to scientific problems and engage multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll need:
- outstanding communication skills
- the ability to engage and influence
- knowledge of methodologies including linear and non-linear modelling
- the capability to design and analyse experiments
- confidence in multivariate methods
- competence in modelling based on the Bayesian paradigm
