We have a vacancy for a Project Manager, English for the Military, working on a two-year contract in Kinshasa (D.R. Congo). The project aims to give DRC military officers the skills needed to participate effectively in professional training offered in English and communicate at strategic and tactical levels with international partners. This is essential for developing the military’s capability for peace support operations. The DRC project started in 2006 and has been given a further extension on 2 years due to the high level impact it has achieved and the importance to UK – DRC bilateral relations.
You will provide strategic management and professional leadership for the Project and manage project staff in Kinshasa as required.
You must have experience of managing projects, managing staff and of working in the context of English for the military or security personnel. An MA in Applied Linguistics / TEFL or equivalent relevant qualification, and at least 3 years experience of ELT are also essential.
The British Council does not have an office in DRC so the post is supported by our Regional Team in Nairobi, and by the FCO team in Kinshasa. You will be expected to be self-resourceful and resilient, ideally with prior experience of working in challenging environments. The FCO describes Kinshasa as an “informed choice”. We do not recommend this as suitable for young families.
Closing date: 1st July 07.00 GMT
